Tuesday Morning Bible Study Last Tuesday we finished up Leviticus 21 and moved into Leviticus 22. These two chapters deal with the purity of the levitical priesthood. The priests must be very careful to guard and protect their ritual cleanliness so that they can enter the tabernacle to serve and sacrifice. This shows both the holiness of God, nothing unclean can come into his presence. And it demonstrates the weakness and impotence of the levitical priests and that one function of their priesthood was to point forward to a better Priest. Jesus, the Great High Priest, has no need to guard himself from uncleanness. He need not be careful not to touch the dead or the leper. He makes those who are unclean clean and he raises the dead from their funeral biers. Impurity does not infect him, it flees from him. In the same way, he indwells us by his Holy Spirit, to take away our impurity and cleanse our hearts. We need not fear that we are too stained by sin to be his tabernacles. His blood cleanses us from all of our sins. You can watch the recording here, or in the window below.

This Week
This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on John 7:40-52.
When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This really is the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee? Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” So there was a division among the people over him. Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.
The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?” The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!” The Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived? Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.” Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, “Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”
