What’s Happening at Good Shepherd
Evening Worship Service Good Shepherd will have the next monthly informal Sunday evening service tonight, at 6pm. Coffee/tea and snack will be served at 5.30pm in the Fellowship Hall.
This is a great opportunity to invite friends/family/neighbors who are considering coming to church or who are wondering about faith to a peaceful, reflective gathering with lovely worship songs, scripture readings, prayer, and time to simply be in the presence of God together. Please contact Anne T., with any questions, thoughts, etc.
Lenten Open Worship Every Wednesday evening from 7:30- 8:30 pm during Lent the church will be open for a time of worship and prayer. All are welcome to come and listen, pray, journal, or just meditate on Christ’s mercy and finished work. Call or text Ronnie M. or the church office with any questions.
Potluck Next Sunday is the first Sunday of the month and that means it’s time for another potluck! This month’s theme will be International Foods. If you have a particular dish related to another culture that you enjoy, please bring a dish of it to share, but stay to enjoy lunch and fellowship even if you can’t!
Please remember to clean up after yourself and your family and to take your dishes home with you.
Annual CHE Rummage Sale Spring has semi-sprung, and this means we are collecting for our Epic Rummage Sale to support the work of Community Health Evangelism, Nicaragua. Particularly their new project to help families start keeping chickens to improve nutrition in these difficult times. If, while spring-cleaning, you find items that no longer spark joy – but might for someone else – please call Anne T. to check that we will be at church to take the items on a Sunday. No clothes, no exercise equipment, please. If you know anyone who has to clear out a house, please give them my number. The sale is May 24th and 25th. Thank you for all your past support, it has been invaluable.

Preventing Grace Podcast Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? They talk about everything from church polity to rustic breads. In this week’s episode, ‘Jesus was a Socialist?’, Matt and Anne ‘discuss a Patheos article in which the author argues that Jesus really does want us to steal rich people’s stuff and give it to the poor. Then they discuss two ladies who access “earth spirits” on youtube.
You can catch up on all of the older podcast episodes here.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study We move into Leviticus 23 this morning where God institutes all of the great feasts of the Old Covenant. No time to give much of a preview beyond that, but we know from our study of John that these feasts take on great significance in the New Testament where we find that each one foreshadows the work of Christ for our redemption. You can watch the recording here, or in the window below.

This Week
This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on John 7:53-8:10.
They went each to his own house, but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
