What’s Happening at Good Shepherd
Happy News! As many of you know, Jerry S., one of Good Shepherd’s seminary students is being ordained as a deacon at the 2019 CANA East Synod. Several people from Good Shepherd have asked about traveling to witness this joyful ceremony. If you’d like more information on the 2019 CANA East Synod, you can follow this link. This year, the synod will be held in Souderton, PA, a two and a half hour drive from Binghamton. The ceremony is this Saturday, May 18th, at 10:30am at Immanuel Leidy’s Church, 273 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964.
Please Pray for the Good Shepherd staff as most of us travel to and from this year’s Synod.

Annual CHE Rummage Sale Spring has semi-sprung, and this means we are collecting for our Epic Rummage Sale to support the work of Community Health Evangelism, Nicaragua. Particularly their new project to help families start keeping chickens to improve nutrition in these difficult times. If, while spring-cleaning, you find items that no longer spark joy – but might for someone else – please call Anne T. to check that we will be at church to take the items on a Sunday. No clothes, no exercise equipment, please. If you know anyone who has to clear out a house, please give them my number. The sale is May 24th and 25th. Thank you for all your past support, it has been invaluable.
If you have some time available to help set up the CHE Rummage Sale on May 23rd in Montrose, please let Anne T. know.
If you have items for the sale the Freunds can pick them up on May 21st at your home. Thank you!
March for Life Rally On Monday, June 3, 2019, Several parishioners from Good Shepherd will be attending a March for Life event in Albany, NY at the New York State Capital Building from 10:30am-3:30pm. Please go to http://marchforlifeny.org/march-for-life-2019/ for more information, or speak to Eric Radman.
Scheduling Reminder If you need to make an appointment with Pastor Matt, please be sure to contact Stephanie directly at gs.binghamton@gmail.com.
Often when people come to speak with Matt after the service on Sunday, he’s already been working for over nine hours, and doesn’t always remember to put it into the calendar. This can cause double bookings, or forgotten appointments. Please keep in mind that the office is closed on Mondays and Fridays, but you can always leave a message. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Good Shepherd Food Pantry Summer is quickly approaching, and most children will be out of school. This means that those children won’t have access to school lunches. This puts an additional burden on the parents. It is vitally important for our member food pantry to be well stocked during this time.
Items needed: spaghetti, pasta sauce, canned fruit, cereal (hot/cold), crackers, canned meat and tuna, peanut butter and jelly, powdered milk, coffee, coffee creamer, tea, drink mixes, small bags of rice, and canned vegetables (carrots, creamed corn/regular corn, beets, asparagus, etc.), and anything else you’d like to bring.

Last Week’s Sermon was called ‘They Shall Never Perish’ and was based on John 10:22-30. It can be listened to or downloaded here.
Preventing Grace Podcast Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? They talk about everything from church polity to rustic breads. This Week
This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on John 13:31-35.
When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
