What’s Happening at Good Shepherd
Thank you! The Artisan Craft Fair that went on during May 3rd First Friday Artwalk in Downtown Binghamton was a huge success on many levels. Many people who walked through our gallery were invited to church and received a handout with our church’s information, it brought our church family together in fun ways throughout the process, and we raised over $5,000 towards the Capital Campaign. A huge thank you to those who contributed their art, time, skills, talents, and hard work to pull this off. We have enough art to run another event at the June 7th First Friday and hope to have another successful night.
Potluck! Next Sunday, June 2nd is the next Good Shepherd potluck. The theme will be Secret Ingredient. Do you have a recipe that has a surprising ingredient? Bring a dish of it in to share during this month’s themed Potluck! Please stay and have lunch even if you don’t bring anything.
March for Life Rally On Monday, June 3, 2019, Several parishioners from Good Shepherd will be attending a March for Life event in Albany, NY at the New York State Capital Building from 10:30am-3:30pm. Please go to http://marchforlifeny.org/march-for-life-2019/ for more information, or speak to Eric Radman.
Scheduling Reminder If you need to make an appointment with Pastor Matt, please be sure to contact Stephanie directly at gs.binghamton@gmail.com.
Often when people come to speak with Matt after the service on Sunday, he’s already been working for over nine hours, and doesn’t always remember to put it into the calendar. This can cause double bookings, or forgotten appointments. Please keep in mind that the office is closed on Mondays and Fridays, but you can always leave a message. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Ongoing Ministries
Good Shepherd Youth Group Youth Group meets on Sunday night from 6:00 – 7:30pm at Good Shepherd. All youth between the ages of 12-18 are welcome to join as the youth group continues to study the book of Romans. Please contact Tyler Van Fossen if you’d like to know how to help or be involved in the Good Shepherd Youth Group in any way. Email: tvf.arrowhead@gmail.com
Dates to keep in mind:
May 26 This Sunday the youth group will be meeting at 1pm at Rec Park for an end of year gathering. Lunch will be provided. Please contact Tyler for more information. This will be the last meeting of the year before the youth group breaks for the summer.
Bread and Wine If you are interested in joining a group of ladies for a monthly supper and discussion, please contact Liz Hull. The group is currently studying a book called Money, Possessions and Eternity, by Randy Alcorn. The next meeting will be in June, at the Hull home.
Good Shepherd Food Pantry Summer is quickly approaching, and most children will be out of school. This means that those children won’t have access to school lunches. This puts an additional burden on the parents. It is vitally important for our member food pantry to be well stocked during this time.
Items needed: spaghetti, pasta sauce, canned fruit, cereal (hot/cold), crackers, canned meat and tuna, peanut butter and jelly, powdered milk, coffee, coffee creamer, tea, drink mixes, small bags of rice, and canned vegetables (carrots, creamed corn/regular corn, beets, asparagus, etc.), and anything else you’d like to bring.
This Week
This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on John 14:21-29 .
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.
