What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
Children’s Education (From Anne Kennedy) Hello All! I want to invite everyone associated with children and children’s ministry to a meeting after the 10:30 service this coming Sunday (the 13th). My desire is for all of you to help me think through how we can proceed with Sunday school, nursery and other children’s ministries this fall. I have a lot of ideas and am eager to get things kicked off, but I am also anxious to hear what each family is comfortable doing, as well as those who would like to work with children. I think we can be flexible this year, and still minister to our kids. I’d like to meet under the tent right after the service ends, if possible, so that everyone can have a chance to weigh in but also we won’t be there forever. These are strange times, but kids are always kids and Jesus is always God! See you Sunday!
~Anne
Kennedy Vacation Please join me, the vestry, and the staff of Good Shepherd in thanking all of the faithful servants that helped to fill the gaps, allowing the Kennedys to have a restful time.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study has resumed. This class is currently studying the book of Ephesians, and have picked back up where they left off in chapter 5. This class can be watched in person at 360 Conklin Ave. in the parish hall, and can also be viewed online. If you missed last week’s class, you can watch it here.
Thursday Evening Bible Study has also resumed. This class is currently studying the book of Ruth. If you missed the first class, you can watch it here.
Friday Morning Men’s Breakfast will continue to meet as usual.
Mission Groups exist to bring glory to God as we help each other become more like Christ for the sake of His kingdom and church. If you are looking for a way to get involved, grow in community, and deepen your understanding of God’s word, Mission Groups are for you. And we are excited to start them up again this month! Please consider the list below, and if you are interested in joining any particular group, please contact that leader. If you have any questions, or would like to host or lead a group yourself, please talk with Jonathan Groves.
All Mission Groups will begin meeting between September 20-26.
See the paper bulletin on Sunday for more information on dates and locations.
Women’s Bible Study The women’s bible study is still paused for the time being. Please see Christine Osgood for more information.
Youth Group has resumed meeting!
First Meeting of 2020-2021 Youth Group will resume regularly meeting this Sunday, September 13th from 6-7:30pm at Good Shepherd.
The meetings will be held in the sanctuary of GS to maintain social distancing suggestions. Masks will not be required as there is plenty of room to keep healthy space between all members.
If any child is showing symptoms of illness or running a fever, please keep the entire family home to help prevent the spread of illnesses.
Please join us in praying for a wonderful new year of ministry, worship, and growth for the youth of Good Shepherd.
Sunday Morning Worship and Christian Ed
Both the 8am Service and the 10:30 service will be held in person at Good Shepherd each Sunday. We ask that if you come into the building for the services that you wear a mask unless you are unable, due to health reasons, and that social distancing be practiced at all times. Christian Education will still be live-streamed and is open to the public, however the class is being taught in the outdoor area in the tent near the garage. The 8am Worship service will not be live-streamed, but the 10:30 service will be available to experience online as well as in person on the property in both the sanctuary and the outdoor worship space.
Catching Up… Did you miss last week’s sermon? You can catch it here. Last week, Rev. Robert Carlson preached.
Christian Education will begin at 9:15 and will be available at this link.
The live-stream of the 10:30 service will be posted on Facebook each week. The stream will begin on Sunday starting at 10:20am but the service will not start until 10:30am. You should be able to access it at this link. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes and studies.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings if you click on this link. In the bulletin, you’ll notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. If you would like to send your tithe electronically, these are the best ways to do so. You can still send your tithe in by traditional mail as well.
