What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
A Note from Matt~
Dear Good Shepherd,
Good Shepherd has, throughout Covid, sought to honor the New York State health guidelines. As you know, Governor Cuomo has this week decided to follow the CDC recommendations to lift the masking mandate for fully vaccinated people both inside and outside. We invite you, if you feel comfortable doing so, to follow these new New York State guidelines during the 10:30 service (the 8am policy will remain in place for now). It is none of our business to ask who is and who is not vaccinated, but we do ask that you be respectful, charitable, and anxious for the good, health, and conscience of others. The “opening committee” as we have called the group that has met throughout the pandemic to advise me as we have endured this difficult time, was not able to meet this week, but will be shortly. As I have said to the committee through the past year–my goal is for as many people as possible to worship together. That continues to be my desire. Please let me know if you have any concerns or anything you would like the committee to consider. I am so grateful for your patience and prayers. I am also so proud of you as a congregation, how you have endured and been kind to me and to the staff of Good Shepherd. I know we have not always gotten it right, but your prayers and love have upheld us. Please continue to pray for our state and for the world as we hopefully emerge out of this pandemic.

Altar Flowers For all the grief that we have endured during covid, one bright spot is that we are rethinking the way we provide flowers for the Altar. For years we have outsourced this work and, for a small fee, been delivered two vases of flowers every week. When everything shut down, so did our flower delivery. Now, a year later, we would like to try something new.
Beginning in May, we are inviting those who love this sort of thing to contact Steph or Anne. We would like to put together a rotation of people to do the flowers themselves. The small amount of money we paid before would be available to the person on duty that week if they would like to purchase and arrange the flowers. We also welcome those who garden to arrange flowers that they themselves grow. We are working out some guidelines for this ministry (like, that we would like to have the usual two vases of flowers, and, that if you do the flowers for the church, the Altar Guild will be welcome to give the flowers away to visitors and those with birthdays and anniversaries) so please let us know if you would like to participate!
Many Thanks from Stephanie and Anne
Large Print Bulletins are available upon request for both services. If you need a large print bulletin, please contact the office before next Sunday’s services.
Zoom Morning Prayer This service meets online by zoom at 7am Monday through Friday. The liturgy and readings are available each day at www.dailyoffice2019.com. This is a great way to get back to reading the bible and prayer. Join the parish email list and look for a daily email invitation in your inbox.
Zoom Mission Group There are currently two NEW groups meeting entirely by zoom. Please contact Jon for more information!
Sunday Morning Worship
Both the 8am and the 10:30 services are meeting in person.
The lectionary readings for this Sunday are: Exodus 3:1-6, Romans 8:12-17, and John 14:15-31.
The 8am service If you are high risk, or at all nervous to be in social gatherings, this service is designed for you. All those who attend are asked to wear masks and remain socially distanced throughout the service. The 8am service is not currently being live-streamed.
The 10:30am service is currently observing ‘restaurant-style’ masking guidelines which means that while seated, masks are optional. We ask that those attending wear masks when entering, leaving, or walking from one place to another (unless you are unable due to health reasons) and practice social distancing of at least six feet between your family and the next grouping.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings here. One of the joys of having a fully digital bulletin is that we are free to use color! You’ll find that some of the artwork and many of the directions are in full color. You’ll also notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. You can give online through Breeze or you can text a donation through Breeze at 607-882-6551. Good Shepherd also has a PayPal account. If you choose to give via PayPal you can avoid fees by paying directly from your bank. Be sure to uncheck the box that says, “paying for goods and services” at the bottom or paypal will charge Good Shepherd a fee. As always, thank you for your great generosity and kind support.
The 10:30 service is also available via livestream. You can access the stream at this link. The stream begins every Sunday at 10:20am but the service does not start until 10:30am. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes, and studies.
Christian Education begins at 9:15am and will continue to be live-streamed, however the class is open to the public with the same guidelines as the 10:30 service. It will be will be available at this link.
