What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
Christmas Schedule There are many schedule changes for the next two weeks as we observe Christmas.
Kennedy Christmas Rest: The Kennedy family will be taking the week after Christmas off. Please do not contact them unless there is an emergency. The office will still be open.
Mission Groups: Some of the mission groups are not meeting during Christmas week and the week after. Please contact your leaders or hosts to find out more info.
All Bible Studies: are cancelled for the weeks of Christmas and New Year. They will resume beginning on January 2nd.
Choir: There will be no choir practice on December 29th. Choir will resume on January 5th.
Morning Prayer: Morning prayer will break for the remainder of 2021. We will resume meeting on January 3rd.
Ladies’ Christmas Party and Cookie Exchange The Ladies’ Christmas ‘Adventure’ was a wonderful opportunity for the women (and young ladies) of Good Shepherd to get together, eat, talk, and celebrate. A hearty thanks to Ben and Ronnie Murphy for hosting at their lovely home.
Say Cheese! Good Shepherd is going to try adding photos to the 2022 church directory. If you’d like to have your family’s picture included, please forward a copy by email to Jonathan.
Mission Groups Some mission groups are choosing not to meet during the holiday weeks. Please check with your meeting’s leader or host for schedule information. There are currently three local mission groups, and one online group meeting by Zoom.
Large Print Bulletins are available upon request for both services. If you need a large print bulletin, please let the usher at the back of the sanctuary know, and they will get one for you.
Zoom Morning Prayer This service normally meets online by zoom at 7am Monday through Friday. The liturgy and readings are available each day at www.dailyoffice2019.com. Join the parish email list and look for a daily email invitation in your inbox.
Both the 8am and the 10:30 services are meeting in person.
The 8am service If you are high risk, or at all nervous to be in social gatherings, this service is designed for you. All those who attend are asked to wear masks and remain socially distanced throughout the service. The 8am service is not currently being live-streamed.
The 10:30am service New York State Mask Mandate Issued: The Governor issued a mask mandate for New York State requiring masks inside public venues regardless of vaccination status until January 15th. You can read about it here.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings here. One of the joys of having a fully digital bulletin is that we are free to use color! You’ll find that some of the artwork and many of the directions are in full color. You’ll also notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. You can give online through Breeze or you can text a donation through Breeze at 607-882-6551. Good Shepherd also has a PayPal account. If you choose to give via PayPal you can avoid fees by paying directly from your bank. Be sure to uncheck the box that says, “paying for goods and services” at the bottom or PayPal will charge Good Shepherd a fee. As always, thank you for your great generosity and kind support.
The lectionary readings for this week are: Isaiah 61:10-62:5, Psalm 147:12-20, Galatians 3:23-4:7, and Luke 2:15-20.
