What’s Happening at Good Shepherd
Thanksgiving at Good Shepherd During the week of Thanksgiving (November 21-26), all bible studies, morning prayer, and community events are cancelled. All studies will resume the following week.
Please check with your home group coordinator to find out if your group is meeting or having a special event this week.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd This Sunday for Adult Ed Anne will be joining us to talk about Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. As many of you know, CGS is the program we have used in our Sunday School for the whole time that the Kennedys have served at Good Shepherd. It is not the sort of program many churches are used to, and Anne has been working on bringing an official training for this program to our area for many years. She will talk about the program–where it comes from, how it works, what we love about it–but also our overall approach to Children’s Ministry. Bring your theological questions, your queries about Childhood Development, and all your complaints about everything to Christian Ed this Sunday.
St. Nicholas Fair and Bake Sale Saturday, December 10th, from 10am-3pm, Good Shepherd will be having a Christmas Bake Sale and craft fair in the Parish Hall. Come and enjoy a warm drink and snack, while shopping and enjoying other festivities!
There will be a café featuring soups and sandwiches, and live music, among other things. If you would like to bake something delicious for someone to buy, please let Stephanie know.
All proceeds will be used to help fund training for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. We hope to see you there!
Prayer Offered Good Shepherd has resumed offering Prayer on the side altar during Communion. Beginning this Sunday, you may notice a person standing at the side altar rail as you come forward to receive the bread and wine. That person is part of the newly formed Prayer Ministry–people trained to pray for any anxieties or troubles you may have. If you would like prayer for any reason, please feel free to stop as you pass.
Choral Evensong An Evensong service is a centuries old liturgy for evening prayer that is almost entirely sung, by both the choir and congregation. Join us for a service of Choral Evensong this Sunday evening, November 20, 2022 at 5:00pm.
Music for this Evensong service will include various styles of plainsong or chant, a short anthem, and congregational hymns. Hope to see you there!
Giftable Jams and Jellies Good Shepherd will be hosting a beginner canning class on jams and jellies on November 30th, from 2-5pm.
There will be an $11 fee for supplies, and each participant will take home some of the items made in the course. Please see Jenn Fowler or Steph for more details. You can sign up at the main entrance usher’s table beginning this Sunday.
Volunteers for Tech Team Are you a technologically capable person who would like to serve the church with your gifts? Good Shepherd is looking add a volunteer team to run sound and the livestream for our services. If this is a ministry that interests you, please reach out to Micah.
Home Groups Home Groups exist to glorify God and build up the church through weekly gatherings where members of Good Shepherd and non-members alike may come to grow in fellowship and discipleship around God’s word.
Please see the paper bulletin for more information on times and places!

Preventing Grace Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? Most weeks they cover topics like church polity, raising children, current events, and baking bread. In this week’s installment, ‘Good or Bad Patriarchy‘, Anne and Matt talk about a beauty pageant in New Hampshire won by a very large man pretending to be a woman and how men identifying as women are erasing real women and extending a brutal form of patriarchy. They talk about how there can either be a good and benevolent patriarchy (see the bible) or a cruel malicious one but there will always be patriarchy. They also discuss Freud, Marx, and critical theory.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study This Tuesday we continued our series on the miracles of Jesus. The third miracle of Jesus was the Healing of a Man Possessed by a Demon in Capernaum (Mark 1:21-28, Luke 4:33-37). You can watch here.
