This the second class of a new series exploring the controversies and debates of the early church. Sometimes Christians think of the 1st Century as the golden age of the Church, the time when all was well and the church victorious. In some ways this is true, the Apostles still lived and taught in person and the church spread rapidly throughout the Mediterranean. But the Apostolic era was rent with controversy and division just as we often are. How did the Apostles deal with errant ideas, bad behavior, power-seeking, ethnic prejudice, and divisiveness? The answer to that question will give us a model for navigating our present challenges and difficulties.
