What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
Welcome! Chris and Jaime welcomed their second child, Peter Timothy on Tuesday, July 27th at 9:46pm.
He was 7 lbs, 4 oz and 19.5 inches. Mom, Dad, Ophelia, and baby Pete are all doing well.
As is the custom at Good Shepherd, we would like to bless the family with meals as they adjust to their changing schedules. We’ve set up a Take Them A Meal page, and would ask that you consider providing them with a meal. You can find information on how to do that at this link.
Please keep the Emmons in your prayer as they make the transition to a family of four.
Kennedy Family Vacation The Kennedy family are taking their annual vacation. They’ll be enjoying some much-needed rest and will return to Good Shepherd after August 22.
Please refrain from contacting them unless there is a medical/physical emergency. Our pastoral assistant Jonathan Groves will be available for meetings during this time, and the church office will remain open, and can be reached in all the usual ways.
Good Shepherd is excited to welcome The Rev. Tony Seel, Archdeacon Joel Grigg, and Mr. Scott Pineau as interim preachers and officiants while the Kennedys are away.
Shepherd’s Bowl Announcement As of September 2, we will be back to serving dinner indoors at 5:30pm. The doors to the building will be opened at 5pm and will close at 6:30.
Coffee Hour As you may have heard, coffee hour has resumed! While we are not serving lunch, there will be coffee and tea available after the 10:30 service in the parish hall each Sunday. If you would like to help with this ministry by making a couple of pots of coffee one Sunday a month, please contact Steph or Carrie Nelson.
Large Print Bulletins are available upon request for both services. If you need a large print bulletin, please contact the office before next Sunday’s services.
Zoom Morning Prayer This service meets online by zoom at 7am Monday through Friday. The liturgy and readings are available each day at www.dailyoffice2019.com. Morning prayer is on hiatus until Labor Day. Join the parish email list and look for a daily email invitation in your inbox when we resume in the fall.
Sunday Morning Worship
Both the 8am and the 10:30 services are meeting in person.
The 8am service If you are high risk, or at all nervous to be in social gatherings, this service is designed for you. All those who attend are asked to wear masks and remain socially distanced throughout the service. The 8am service is not currently being live-streamed.
The 10:30am service is currently observing ‘restaurant-style’ masking guidelines which means that while seated, masks are optional. We ask that those who are unvaccinated wear masks when entering, leaving, or walking from one place to another (unless you are unable due to health reasons) and practice social distancing of at least six feet between your family and the next grouping. We are utilizing the honor system for masking and will not ask for proof of vaccination.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings here. One of the joys of having a fully digital bulletin is that we are free to use color! You’ll find that some of the artwork and many of the directions are in full color. You’ll also notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. You can give online through Breeze or you can text a donation through Breeze at 607-882-6551. Good Shepherd also has a PayPal account. If you choose to give via PayPal you can avoid fees by paying directly from your bank. Be sure to uncheck the box that says, “paying for goods and services” at the bottom or paypal will charge Good Shepherd a fee. As always, thank you for your great generosity and kind support.
The lectionary readings for this week are: Proverbs 9:1-6, Psalm 147, Ephesians 5:3-14, and John 6:53-59.
The 10:30 service is also available via livestream. You can access the stream at this link. The stream begins every Sunday at 10:20am but the service does not start until 10:30am. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes, and studies.
Christian Education begins at 9:15am and will continue to be live-streamed, however the class is open to the public with the same guidelines as the 10:30 service. It will be will be available at this link.
