Christmas Outreach: Again this Christmas we at Good Shepherd have the amazing opportunity to celebrate Christ’s birth by helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Needy children from Saratoga Youth Center have provided us with wish lists for Christmas. Please join the Outreach Team in surprising these dear children with some special presents (valued at $15-$20) this holiday. Select a child represented on the Christmas tree in the Parish Hall and record your name, phone number, and the child’s number on the sign-up sheet. Please gift wrap the present and be sure to place the number of the child on the wrapped package. Please bring it to church by Sunday December 20th. We will help Saint Nick deliver the gifts to the children on Tuesday December 22nd. See Carmen to know the name(s) of the child/children whom you select. Thanks so much!
Evangelism Training Seminar on Sunday December 6th. Are you still searching for that perfect gift to give this Christmas? Why not give away your faith in Jesus Christ? Rev Hal Hallam and his wife have spent many years traveling with the Billy Graham organization, working in disaster relief, recovery and evangelism. This Sunday he will present a special training program to teach us some proven techniques that have been used by the Billy Graham campaign. You will also have the opportunity to practice these methods in a safe, non-threatening environment. So why not get up a little early on Sunday and join us downstairs at 8:15 Am? There will be doughnuts available, first come — first served beginning At 8am. The class is open to all people of all ages. We look forward to seeing you There, this Sunday, downstairs at 8:15!
Special Prayer Request From Barnabas Aid: Pray for Christians in Bangui, the capital city of the Central African Republic (CAR), who are being targeted, their homes looted and torched.
The bodies of over 30 Christians were left outside a church. Red Cross workers were refused access, and the Muslims dumped them in a mass grave by the church.
Many Christian families are now sleeping out in the open. “The people have lost everything, and have nowhere to lay their head. They have become wanderers and vagabonds in their own country,” a Christian leader wrote to Barnabas. “The threat of sudden death is on everyone’s mind, given what is going on in CAR far from the media cameras,” he wrote on October 29. “We are defenseless, our very lives exposed, and only God can save us.”

This Week
This week’s sermon is based on Luke 3:1-6.
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough places shall become level ways, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’” (Luke 3:1-6 ESV)
