Angel Tree Thank You Many thanks to everyone who prayed or contributed in any way to the Christmas parties for the Saratoga and Future Faces children. I wish you could have seen the joy on the children’s faces as they opened their gifts at Saratoga! For some of these children these were their only Christmas gifts, and I so wish you had all seen the children who raised their hands that they were accepting Christ for the first time. I especially wish you could have seen the child who was mouthing the words with folded hands and closed eyes! Santa was there, but it was apparent that Jesus was the reason that we were there in celebration. May God bless you all for your support and may God be praised for giving us the enormous privilege of being a part of blessing these dear ones!
Tyler Van Fossen began serving this week as Good Shepherd’s new pastoral assistant. He brings many gifts to the table; a sharp mind, excellent admin skills, an eagerness to serve, a love for Christ and the scriptures, and love for the church. As with Jerry and Ife, Tyler will be open to meet with you should you desire to do so. Just call the church office for an appointment.
An Offer of Prayer The prayer team prays for the needs of the church on a weekly basis. If you have a specific request (Praise or intercession) please fill out a card and place it in the “prayer box” by the bulletin boards in the parish hall. All prayers are kept confidential.
Ongoing Ministries
Good Shepherd Youth Group Each Sunday evening, the youth of Good Shepherd meet for fellowship and worship. Any young person between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome to attend. Led by Good Shepherd member Tyler VanFossen. For more information, contact the Good Shepherd office at (607)723-8032.
Next month, we’ll be having our first official service project at Arrowhead Bible Camp from February 9-11. We will be trained on how to set tables, clean toilets, sweep floors, prep food, run dishes through a machine, fold laundry, and many other hands-on things as well. In between our times of serving we will play games, study the bible, pray, talk, and just hang out.
If you’d like to know how to help or be involved, please contact Tyler VanFossen.
Bread and Wine If you are interested in joining a group of ladies for a monthly supper and discussion, please contact Liz Hull. The group will be beginning a new study on a book called Money, Possessions and Eternity, by Randy Alford, and the next meeting will be January 13th.
Health and Wellness Our bodies are “the tents” that the Lord has given us to house our souls. Begin to take care of the body which God Has given you. Check your blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight every Sunday in the Parish Hall 9-10AM. Please see Dolly Shaller or Carmen Swoffer-Penna for more details.
Good Shepherd Member Food Pantry God gives us all certain jobs to do, and one of them is to feed the hungry. Just like he did when he fed the five thousand by multiplying a young boys lunch of bread and fish. keeping our food pantry well stocked is just one way to do that. so that those who don’t have enough food will.
Needs: Peanut butter and jelly, canned ham, canned meats, tuna, macaroni, rice (in 1 lb bags), canned fruit, canned soups and stews, kid friendly foods, cereal, juice, powdered milk, coffee, tea and hot cocoa, and anything else you’d like to bring.
*Please do not bring in any flour or sugar, as they attract pests.

This Week
This Week in Christian Ed We will wrap up our series on “Race, Life, and Sexuality” by addressing some of the remaining questions from our last session. Can Christians hold different views on human sexuality and remain within the pale of orthodoxy? Is it possible to identify as a “gay Christian”? Then we’ll summarize some of the primary lessons we’ve learned throughout the series. I may also announce what’s coming next.
This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on Hebrews 11:30-31, the faith of Rahab and the fall of Jericho.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
Team Galatians is working on the altar this Sunday.
The readings for this week are Isaiah 60:1-9 and Hebrews 11:30-31.
Mary S. will be serving on the altar guild this Sunday.
Shepherd’s Bowl Team 6 is serving this week with the Rabineau family.
