What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
Daylight Savings Please remember that tonight is the ‘spring forward’ portion of daylight savings time and set your clocks forward one hour. No one likes showing up to church an hour later than everyone else!
Large Print Bulletins are available upon request for both services. If you need a large print bulletin, please contact the office before next Sunday’s services.
Thursday Evening Bible Study The Thursday evening bible study has just concluded its study of the book of Ecclesiastes. Matt is taking a few weeks to decide what book to start studying next.
If you have a book that you would like him to consider, please send a message to Matt or the office, both by email to let us know.
We are also considering moving the study to the Zoom platform. Please let us know if you have any preference between Zoom and Facebook as platforms.
Zoom Morning Prayer This service meets online by zoom at 7am Monday through Friday. The liturgy and readings are available each day at www.dailyoffice2019.com. This is a great way to get back to reading the bible and prayer. Join the parish email list and look for a daily email invitation in your inbox.
Zoom Mission Group There are currently two NEW groups meeting entirely by zoom. Please contact Jon for more information!
Stations of the Cross Our sister church, St. Andrew’s Anglican, (300 Wendell St, Endicott, NY 13760) is going to be having a Stations of The Cross service every Friday during Lent at 5:30pm, and has extended an invitation to the Good Shepherd community to join them.
Sunday Morning Worship
Both the 8am and the 10:30 services are meeting in person.
The 8am service If you are high risk, or at all nervous to be in social gatherings, this service is designed for you. All those who attend are asked to wear masks and remain socially distanced throughout the service. The 8am service is not currently being live-streamed.
The 10:30am service is currently observing ‘restaurant-style’ masking guidelines which means that while seated, masks are optional. We ask that those attending wear masks when entering, leaving, or walking from one place to another (unless you are unable due to health reasons) and practice social distancing of at least six feet between your family and the next grouping. Once seated, masks are optional.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings here. One of the joys of having a fully digital bulletin is that we are free to use color! You’ll find that some of the artwork and many of the directions are in full color. You’ll also notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. If you would like to send your tithe digitally, these are the best ways to do so. You can still send your tithe in by traditional mail as well.
The 10:30 service is also available via livestream. You can access the stream at this link. The stream begins every Sunday at 10:20am but the service does not start until 10:30am. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes, and studies.
This Sunday’s Lectionary Readings are: 2 Chronicles 36:14-23, Ephesians 2:4-10, and John 19:28-30.
Christian Education begins at 9:15am and will continue to be live-streamed, however the class is open to the public with the same guidelines as the 10:30 service. This week, we will be back in the Screwtape Letters, picking up in chapter 12. It will be will be available at this link.
Catching Up…
Last Sunday’s Sermon Did you miss last Sunday’s sermon? Last week, Matt preached on John 19:23-27. You can catch the sermon, “They Divided His Garments” here.
Christian Education If you missed Christian Ed last Sunday, we discussed sexuality and identity and the controversy in the ACNA.. You can watch it here. You can catch the earlier classes in this series and much more at this link.
Preventing Grace Podcast Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? They talk about everything from church polity to rustic breads. In this episode, ‘Jesus and Kristin Du Mez‘, Matt and Anne discuss the book, “Jesus and John Wayne” by Kristin Du Mez which purports to explain evangelicalism and why so many evangelicals voted for Donald Trump.
Miss an episode? You can catch up on all of the older podcasts here.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study This Tuesday morning, we continued our study of the minor prophets in the book of Hosea, beginning in chapter 14. Chapter 14 concludes the book with one last call for repentance and promise of mercy for Israel. You can catch the recording here.
Thursday Evening Beginner’s Bible Study is on hiatus while we decide what book to dive into next, and if we should continue using the FB live platform, or if we should move to a study hosted on Zoom.
Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study The Men’s bible study meets at 6am each Friday morning.
