Good Shepherd Weekly Update, October 24, 2020

October 24, 2020Stephanie WarnerAudio

What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week

Youth Group will be meeting in person this Sunday at 6pm in the parish hall.  Please check your email inboxes for a note from Tyler Van Fossen with more information.

Catechesis by Zoom Anne and the reopening committee are working to make the space in the children’s wing ready to comfortably meet in person, but until then she would like to have a catechesis by zoom meeting this Sunday at 6pm.  Please look for an emailed invitation from the church if you have catechesis aged children.  For more information, please contact Anne Kennedy.

Zoom Mission Group There has been some interest expressed in putting together a mission group that meets by zoom for those that cannot attend an in-person mission group.  If you would be interested in joining, please contact Jonathan Groves for more information.

Trunk-n-Treat Good Shepherd is preparing to host Trunk-n-Treat again this year at 5pm on October 31st.  Because of covid restrictions, things will change slightly, so please do read on to find out how you can participate.

  • Each car should park with one parking space between it and the cars on either side of it.
  • There will not be hot chocolate or fresh popcorn handed out this year.
  • If you plan on interacting with the public, we are asking that you wear a mask and gloves.
  • Please place the candy into the children’s bags and do not invite them to take candy from your supply.

For more information or to sign up to bring a vehicle and pass out candy, please contact Mary Schuster.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study This class was in chapter two of Hosea this week.  You can view this class in person at 360 Conklin Ave. in the parish hall, and it can also be viewed online.  If you missed the class, you can watch it here.

Thursday Evening Bible Study This class is currently studying the book of Ecclesiastes.  If you missed the class, you can watch it here.

Friday Morning Men’s Breakfast continues to meet on Friday mornings in person at 360 Conklin Ave. in the Parish Hall.  They are currently studying the book of Matthew.

Sunday Morning Worship and Christian Education

Both the 8am Service and the 10:30 service will be held in person at Good Shepherd each Sunday.  We ask that if you come into the sanctuary for the services that you wear a mask unless you are unable, due to health reasons, and that social distancing be practiced at all times.  If you are going to the masking optional area in the parish hall, please wear a mask until you get to your seat, sit in family groupings, and practice social distancing.  Christian Education will still be live-streamed and is open to the public, however the class is being taught in the parish hall part of the building with masking optional.  The 8am Worship service will not be live-streamed, but the 10:30 service will be available to experience online as well as in person on the property in both the sanctuary and in the parish hall worship space.

Catching Up… Did you miss last week’s sermon?  You can catch it here.  Last week, Matt preached on John 17:1-5.

Christian Education will begin at 9:15 and will be available at this link.  Currently, Matt Kennedy is teaching a series called Controversies of the Apostolic Age.

If you missed Christian Ed last Sunday, you can watch it here.

The live-stream of the 10:30 service will be posted on Facebook each week.  The stream will begin on Sunday starting at 10:20am but the service will not start until 10:30am.  You should be able to access it at this link.  If you don’t have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes and studies.

You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings if you click on this link.  In the bulletin, you’ll notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically.  If you would like to send your tithe electronically, these are the best ways to do so. You can still send your tithe in by traditional mail as well.
