Scheduling Reminder If you need to make an appointment with Pastor Matt, please be sure to contact Stephanie directly at gs.binghamton@gmail.com.
Often when people come to speak with Matt after the service on Sunday, he’s already been working for over nine hours, and doesn’t always remember to put it into the calendar. This can cause double bookings or forgotten appointments. Please keep in mind that the office is closed on Mondays and Fridays, but you can always leave a message. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Ongoing Ministries
Women’s Bible Study The Women’s Bible Study meets every Saturday morning from 10 to 11AM. Women of various ages join together to study the bible, moving book by book, and verse by verse. All women are extended a warm invitation to attend. The ladies are currently studying the book of Psalms. The Psalms express so much from praise, forgiveness and gratitude for God’s grace and so much more. Join us while we study this ancient collection of songs and poems that has been woven into our worship services for centuries. Please contact Christine Osgood for more information.

Preventing Grace Podcast This week’s podcast is called ‘Paula White and Evangelicals’. In this podcast Anne and Matt Matt discuss the prosperity gospel preacher Paula White and her evangelical supporters. Available here.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study This week we continued our study in Mark 7 looking at the relationship between tradition and biblical law. One form of “legalism” into which churches sometimes fall is elevating their practices to the point that they become tantamount to divine commandments. The practices themselves may be good and fine, but what is not commanded in scripture, we cannot use to bind a person’s conscience. If a certain congregation does not wish, for example, to use incense in worship, that is fine and good. But they have no grounds to say that those congregations using incense are somehow in the wrong. Where Scripture does not command or forbid, we have no grounds to judge or condemn. We discussed this principle and more. If you couldn’t make it to the class, you can watch the recording below.

This Week
This Sunday Matt will be preaching on John 11:28-44
When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus wept. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”
Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
