What’s Happening at Good Shepherd
This Sunday is Potluck Sunday and acolyte and crucifer practice. The theme this month is Chili Cookoff! Please bring a dish to pass, and stay to have lunch even if you don’t.
If your child/grandchild is an acolyte or crucifer or would like to become one, please be sure they attend practice immediately following the 10:30 service in the sanctuary.
A Message from the Shrivers
Dear Good Shepherd,
Thank you so much for the love you poured out on us and our baby girl at our baby shower! We are truly blessed by your fellowship and love. Thank you for your prayers for us and for her in this time of great anticipation and change. We are so excited to return to Good Shepherd with little Shriver for you to meet her! Keep praying for us!
Love,
Jerry and Janell
Mission Group Update All groups have resumed meeting. The group that used to meet at the Dreher home has merged with the Southside group that meets at Carrie Moorhead’s. Please see the week at a glance schedule for all meeting times and locations.
Water Please take time to offer a bottle of cool water to a passerby or a basketball player! If you spend any time at COGS, you will notice folks just outside our doors. Make that small effort to touch them as you offer a bottle of water in Christ’s name. The water bottles with Christ’s message are in the fridge.
An Offer of Prayer The prayer team prays for the needs of the church on a weekly basis. If you have a specific request (Praise or intercession) please fill out a card and place it in the “prayer box” by the bulletin boards in the parish hall. All prayers are kept confidential.
Are you de-cluttering? Please contribute the items that no longer ‘bring you joy’ to the annual CHE Rummage Sale fundraiser, part of Christmas in Montrose, the first weekend in December. Talk to Anne or Bill about passing on items. We are collecting and storing contributions now. Thanks so much!
Mission’s Prayer Request Please pray for the 23 new believers who have come to know Christ because of CHE ministry in their communities.

Member Food Pantry
God Will Supply Our Every Need.
Have you ever been in a situation where you felt that there was no way out and then a good Samaritan steps up and
provides a solution and relieves your fears or stress?
Our Member Food Pantry is like that as we supply a need for families who don’t have the funds to put food on the table.
Therefore, by keeping our food pantry stocked with healthy foods, we provide a service for them. So, when you who can afford to help go to the market please remember to pick up something for the pantry as every little bit helps.
Items needed: Canned beef, ham, chicken soups and stews, peanut butter, canned fruits, and vegetables, assorted pasta and sauces, one box meals and anything else you’d like to bring.
Last Week
Tuesday Morning’s Bible Study was broadcast on FaceBook Live. We studied Exodus 20. It can be viewed here.
Last Week in Christian Ed we looked at some of the arguments that people twisted to support slavery. The joining together of the “Curse of Ham” argument and various passages that some argued justified slavery, formed the basis for many to defend the practice of race-based enslavement and the transatlantic slave trade. At first glance, it may seem that arguments for slavery have some merit since the bible does not seem to forbid it, but on closer examination, we will find that, once again, the Bible was twisted to support a practice that the bible in fact forbids.
Last Week’s Sermon was based on Hebrews 11:1-7, and was called ‘The Nature of Genuine Faith’. It can be listened to or downloaded here.
This Week
This Week in Christian Ed We’ll continue our ongoing series “Race, Sex, and Life”.
This Week’s Sermon is based on Hebrews 11:1-7.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
