What’s Happening at Good Shepherd
New Members/Inquirers Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in the New Members/Inquirers class which will begin this Sunday after the 10:30am service.
If you are one of those who have let Matt or Steph know that you want to take the class, you should receive an email this coming week with more information. It’s not too late to join up so if you’ve not yet done so, please contact Matt or Steph to let them know.
Coffee Hour Update Do you live a good distance from Good Shepherd, but would like to be involved in a ministry at church? Do you have some time to serve, but don’t want to be locked into serving on a rotational schedule?
If so, coffee hour may be a good fit for you. Please let Steph know if you’re interested in learning more about how you can be involved in this hospitality ministry!
Christian Education: This Sunday we started our new series “Systematic Theology” with a discussion of revelation. How do we know who God is and what he is like? God must reveal himself. He does so in both the things he has made (creation) and directly, through his word. We discussed God’s self-disclosure in nature last week. This week we will discuss his revelation through his word. Class begins at 9:15am. Hope to see you there.
Missionary Update
CHE Nicaragua
Dear friends of CHE,
I will be writing more in the coming weeks, but just wanted to ask everyone to pray for a safe, uninterrupted journey to Costa Rica for the CHE national team, and the area leaders. This trip, to attend a Development Associates International training, has been planned for some time. This will not only be a good training with a Costa Rican trainer who is a staunch friend of the CHE Association, but will be a time of refreshment for everyone after the conditions which have prevailed in Nicaragua since April 19th.
Thank you! Anne Thompson

Good Shepherd Food Pantry Food, clothing and shelter are some of the essentials of life. What if you only had the money to pay for shelter, what would you do about the other two? There are many places to obtain free or low-cost clothing, but what about food? Where would you turn, who would you ask? By giving to the Good Shepherd member food pantry, you may be helping families that don’t have the ability to provide for themselves and their families a nutritious alternative to soup kitchens or government programs.
Needs: pasta sauces, peanut butter, cereal (hot or cold), canned or bottled juice, canned fruit, powdered milk, coffee, tea, creamer, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, napkins, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, feminine supplies, mouthwash and toothpaste, and any anything else you’d like to bring.
Please do not donate flour or sugar as it encourages pests.
Last Week
Last Week’s Sermon was called ‘Whoever Believes in the Son Has Eternal Life‘, and was based on John 3:31-36. It can be listened to or downloaded here.
Preventing Grace Podcast Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? They talk about everything from church polity to rustic breads. In this week’s episode, ‘What Would Rachel Hollis Do?‘ Matt and Anne Kennedy discuss the necessity for lasers and smog machines and heavy metal in men’s ministry and the need for women to study and follow the example of Rachel Hollis in order to deal with mommy guilt and face washing.
You can catch up on all of the older podcast episodes here.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study This Tuesday morning’s class was based on Leviticus 10. Unfortunately, it did not record due to technical difficulties. But here is what Matt said about it.
A bit rushed for time this morning, just a note to say that there will be bible study this morning, moving from Leviticus 10 where God strikes down Nadab and Abihu to Leviticus 11 where God identifies clean and unclean animals. The fun never ends. If you can’t be there in person, you can watch via livestream at the page linked here.
