International Day of Prayer Today is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. For more information as to how we can each individually engage in supporting brothers and sisters suffering for the sake of the gospel, please take some time to read the Barnabas Aid materials found in your bulletin and then pray.
Scheduling Reminder If you need to make an appointment with Pastor Matt, please be sure to contact Stephanie directly at gs.binghamton@gmail.com.
Often when people come to speak with Matt after the service on Sunday, he’s already been working for over nine hours, and doesn’t always remember to put it into the calendar. This can cause double bookings, or forgotten appointments. Please keep in mind that the office is closed on Mondays and Fridays, but you can always leave a message. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Anglican Church Women The ACW will be meeting Saturday, November 12 at 11:15. We will be discussing plans and activities for coming months. We will also, have a speaker talk for about 10 minutes on a Christian camp! The meeting will be followed by pot luck lunch. All are welcome!
Operation Christmas Child has now started!
Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered shoebox gifts to more than 113 million children around the world. Every shoebox offers an opportunity to reach a child with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
. Pick up a shoebox to fill. (Instructions are included inside each shoebox.)
. Bring your filled shoebox back to Good Shepherd NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH.
. Remember to PRAY that God will touch the heart of every child who receives a shoebox gift, and that many children and families will come to faith in Jesus Christ.
Minister’s Calendar The newest edition of the Minister’s Calendar is hot off the presses, and available at an usher’s table near you! If you currently serve on a ministry team, please be sure to stop by and pick one up before you leave today.
And Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink”… There are bottles of water in the church refrigerator which are available to offer to anyone who is in the vicinity of the church. These are not for members of COGS, but are for those outside our walls. Please use this gesture to show others that we care.

Last Week’s Sermon: Last week’s sermon was called ‘The Radiance of the Glory of God’ and was based on Hebrews 1:1-3. You can listen to or download it here.
Mission Group Discussion Questions
Hebrews 1:1-3
Main Ideas:
- Christ is the complete and ultimate revelation of God
- Christ is equal to the Father in power and preeminence
Read Hebrews 1:1-3
1) What does it mean that “in these last days [God] has spoken to us by his Son”?
- In what ways had God communicated who he was with humanity before the last days?
- Why are these ways no longer necessary?
2) What does it mean that Christ was “appointed the heir of all things”?
3) What do the statements about Christ in verses 2 and 3 tell us about his character and work?
- How do these descriptions invalidate the compromises and misconceptions of who Christ is?
Tuesday Morning Bible Study was cancelled for this week, but will be back next week.

Preventing Grace Podcast Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? They talk about everything from church polity to rustic breads. In this week’s episode, ‘Jen Hatmaker and Dreading Halloween’ Matt and Anne discuss Jen Hatmaker and how the church ought to relate to people in same sex relationships. We also talk about Halloween and how much we dread it.
You can catch up on all of the older episodes here.
This Week
This Week’s Sermon is based on Hebrews 1:3-14.
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.” But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:4-14 ESV)
