This Tuesday we pick up our study of the minor prophets with the book of Micah, in Chapter 2. Micah was sent by God to preach to three kings of Judah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. The prevailing sin of Judah and her rulers was always to look for help from other nations and their gods rather than YHWH. As is always the case, their hope in these things proves empty and proved to be their undoing. Each of us also tends to seek life in things that and people who cannot give it so the words of Micah and the prophets can and should serve to spur us to Jesus who came to break the chains that we make for ourselves and to give us the life we look for elsewhere but cannot find in any but Him.
